The things I am learning...

Its amazing the things you can learn from kids. Nicholas and I were having a conversation about fruit snacks. yes, fruit snacks. driving home from nics school i talk to him about his day and I have to ask lots of questions to get a little out of him. My boys are not talkers but in their defense I think its all boys in general.

me: nic, would you like some fruit snacks? (as i'm throwing jojo a pack so he will stop screaming, MOM!!)


nic: no thanks, i dont like fruit snacks.
Me: since when? it wasnt too long ago you had some.
nic: people change mom. Dont you know mom people change all the time.
he continues saying that kinda like fading out of the conversation- people change, people change.
i thought about it and what the heck does he know about that? obviously more than i thought.

Tuesdays around here are a bit crazy. jason isnt home on that night because he has band practice so all the usual evening routine is left up to me. I am not very good with dinner on tues. I usually let the kids eat cereal or sandwiches. I also look at the clock every 10 minutes and hope for bed time to arrive quickly. needless to say tuesday is not my favorite day of the week.
here is one more conversation with nicholas.

Nic: mom, can you wish upon a comet?
Me: i guess you could.
nic: good, cuz if i would see a comet right now i would wish for a steak.
me: A STEAK....
nic: yes, a steak, an already cooked steak. oh yeah, and a pet platypus.
I knew it was time for the kids to eat dinner so i can understand the cooked steak but a pet platypus? that is the 3rd time this year he asks for one.
I announced everyone grab a bowl and the kind of cereal your eating and sit down. I guess he didnt see that comet because there was no steak to be found.

after my stress filled evening I go to lay down for the night and look what i find under my pillow. its a picture nicholas painted for me at school. he told AJ when he was working on it he planned on giving it to me because he knew i would love it. He was correct about that, it made all the stress of the day go away and made me smile.

these next couple of pictures sunnie looks so much like jason. jason has a habit of always having his tongue peeking out of his mouth a little. look sunnie is doing the same thing. sometimes i'll catch nicholas and joey doing it also. An occupational therapist i know says people do that for concentration. which i believe because jason does it while playing his guitar, nic while playing basketball and jojo playing with legos. cute,huh?
