I'm kinda thinking this years fiesta wasnt all that successful. it seems we had a lot of canceled events due to weather. usually we will take the kids out to the balloon park to see either the glow or mass ascension but not this year. The evening we were gonna go to the balloon glow it was canceled because of bad weather.
Monday morning when i was dropping the kids at school i thought we were being invaded by balloons. it all started with one or two and then all of a sudden there were at least 15 over our heads. i'm thinking if i would of stood on top of my suv i couldve touched a few of them. i just kept thinking, hum something doesnt seem right? sure enough something wasnt.
i could see a lady in a basket and then i couldnt see her. well, she ducked down to the bottom because they flew right through a tree and then through another one and ended up hitting the back stop fence on the school field. they then landed or i should say dropped down on the field and immediately were followed by 3 other balloons. they collided with one another but everyone was ok. all i kept thinking was all these kids on the play ground are gonna see people falling out of the baskets. thank goodness that didnt happen.
it was kinda funny because the balloon that went through the trees had a lot of branches stuck to the basket.
later that day i was on the phone with a man that is a balloon pilot (my bartending instructor) and he said they didnt allow balloons to take off from balloon park because of the wind so he didnt fly that morning. i guess everyone else took off from different sites and well, there is a reason they say no flying today. hello people!!!!! they could have traumatized my child for life.
really with all that happening in my neighborhood who in the world needs to get up before sunrise, freeze your butt off and stand in ridiculous lines and dont forget pay outrageous prices just to park and enter.
