as usual i start my day with glancing over at the 2peas message board. well, first thing i came across a post- Special needs moms look here.... so of course since i fall into that catagory i had to look. i'm so glad i did its about a special little girl and her moms blog. you can take a look if you like. mysnugly.com. if you read all the way through to disability awareness you will learn all the horrible, disgusting stuff that was done to children with special needs during hitlers time. it made me so sad because that would have included my daughter and many of the kids i take care of.
people say all the time how lucky the parents are to have me as a babysitter of their special child but you know what? at the end of the day it is me that is lucky. these kids show me what true happiness is, they show what a life with no worries is and they have a love to share like no other.
with them i am not allowed to have "off" days because when i look into their eyes or hear their laugh i have no choice but to smile. the picture is of my special daughter at her 8th grade graduation party. i will leave you with this beautiful poem by the bethanys mother....
God Gave Me A Special Child
God gave me a special child-
Softly, gently, meek and mild,
I was chosen by His grace-
To be the mom of a special face,
Little one so tender and true-
How my heart beats with love for you!
I love you forever just as you are-
You are my little shining star.
Different you are, different you’ll stay-
God made you special-
He loves you that way.
When challenges come as you grow old-
May God give me strength to be so bold,
Fearless, not helpless, but in Him I trust-
I am your mother, care for you I must.
Gladly I will for the rest of my days-
The Lord knows His plans for all my ways,
I made a vow to which I will fulfill-
To care for you always-
And always I will.
